AEM Power operators are used to drive AEM DB transmission disconnectors and earth switches
The PD series is a range of general purpose power operators used for applications up to 145kV
The PDHO series is a high power, lower speed range used for EHV disconnectors above 145kV
AEM Power operators are designed for connection to secure substation DC supplies. Separate control and motor power circuits allow the use of AC motor power if substation control power supplies are limited.

Safety is a primary consideration.
- Robust mechanical and electrical interlocking is provided to ensure operator and network safety
(Site electrical connections must be correctly wired to customer controls and earth auxilliary switches in accordance with AEM installation documents) - A Manual override handle is provided to allow operation during maintenance or control power failure. Insertion of the override handle automatically disconnects control power, disabling remote operation.

Performance is built in to every AEM disconnector
- Remote position indication for substation interlocking and SCADA monitoring. Up to 16 poles of angular position adjustable potential free contacts can be provided.
- Reliable, repeatable and consistent opening and closing of disconnectors and earth switches
- Four modes of operation are possible from an internal selector switch:
Off (Isolated)
Local - enables spring return internal Open/Close switch. This will complete one open or close cycle
Remote automatic
Intermittent - "Inching" operation. Motor runs only when the internal spring return switch is held open or closed
- Removable aluminium gland plate for easy and quick site cable installtion
Reliability is essential for long life and trouble free operation
- Weatherproof IP67 stainless steel enclosure
- Anti condensation heater to keep interior above dewpoint temperature
- Heavy duty, sealed maintenance free motor, gearbox and bearings
